The Early Settlers Cottage

was one of the first buildings built in Orroroo and was bought from the Surveyor – General on 13th May 1880 by Mr Henry Solly.

The cottage is an early example of a clay pug-and-pine cottage. Mr Solly was originally from the Clare Valley and at the age of 49, moved to Orroroo with his second wife and child number nine. The cottage is restored to its original condition and is furnished with simple furniture of the period. Contact the Visitor Information Centre to arrange a booking.
